Serpentine is the stone for outgrowing an old version of yourself, the way a snake sheds a skin that no longer fits. It’s prized for inner growth and for helping you feel more in charge of your own life, and it’s a gentle companion through the uncomfortable stretch of change. A classic meditation stone, it’s traditionally used to awaken kundalini energy, the coiled serpent of yogic tradition, and to clear the path from the heart up to the crown. It has a long history as a protective stone, too: in medieval Europe, serpentine cups and charms were thought to guard against poison and snakebite. Its name comes from the Latin serpens, “serpent,” for its green, scaled look.
