A serpent carved from the landscape. This large Picture Jasper snake coils upward in an S-curve with its head lifted, every scale carved in a fine crosshatch. The stone is a silvery dove gray splashed with chocolate-brown dendrites and branching streaks, like bare trees on a misty hillside, fading to cream along the head and belly.

Picture Jasper is the stone for when you’re lost in the details and need to see the bigger picture again. Called “the Earth’s message from the past,” it’s a deeply grounding stone, prized for bringing calm, perspective and a sense of belonging to the planet you live on. It’s traditionally used to bring hidden fears gently to the surface so they can be looked at and released, and it’s a favorite for visualization, sparking creativity and turning vision into practical plans, which makes it a classic stone for business owners. On the mystical side, it connects you with the nurturing energy of the Earth Mother. Its scenes of hills, deserts and trees formed as layers of silt and iron-rich mud hardened into stone; some of the most famous come from the high deserts of Oregon and Idaho and from South Africa’s Kalahari.
